Polaris recalls Sportsman ATVs for possible loss of steering

sptmn_850_xp_sg (2)The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission announced a recall of about 8,500 Polaris all-terrain vehicles for defects that may pose a crash hazard. According to the CPSC, Polaris Industries of Medina, Minn., has received 19 reports of incidents involving the recalled 2009 and 2010 model-year ATVs.

ATV rollover kills Arkansas boy

polaris2 100x100A 12-year old Arkansas boy was killed in an all-terrain vehicle accident on Sunday while conducting farm chores, Arkansas’ Hope Star reports. The victim, identified in the report as Garrett Malone, was driving a 2005 Polaris 500 on his family’s farm in Guernsey, Arkansas when the accident occurred.

Rollover kills experienced ATV driver in Iowa

atv riverIowa’s Daily Register reported the death of 38-year-old Arthur John Rios, who died from injuries he sustained when his all-terrain vehicle rolled over last Thursday afternoon. According to investigators, Rios was driving a 2004 Polaris Sportsman 500 HD north along a wooded trail just south of Eldorado at the time of the accident. The apparently rolled off the trail and landed in the adjoining river.

ATV rollover claims the life of Alberta man

sawridge creek2The Edmonton Journal reported another -related death in Alberta involving a man who was found in a ditch adjacent to Highway 2 in the vicinity of Sawridge Creek. Royal Canadian Mounted Police from Slave Lake in central Alberta said the man was found by emergency workers around 2 a.m. on July 18. The victim was identified as Christopher Zuberbier of Wagner, Alberta. He was lying unresponsive underneath his overturned when emergency workers arrived at the scene.

13-year old Alabama girl dies in Polaris ATV rollover

ATV AL victim2A 13-year-old Alabama girl died earlier this month when the Polaris she was riding in rolled over. Emily Dunnam, a resident of Fairhope, Ala., had been visiting relatives in another part of town when the accident occurred. Her cousin was driving the across a field to see some horses that belonged to a neighboring family. Authorities said that the driver could have turned too sharply, causing the vehicle to pitch. Dunnam hit her head when the toppled. Family members tried unsuccessfully to revive her at the scene while waiting for emergency responders to arrive, but it was too late.

ATV rollover kills six-year-old Alberta girl

polaris ATVA 6-year-old girl lost her life on Tuesday when the she was a passenger in rolled over. According to the Edmonton Journal, the girl’s older stepsister was driving the on a rural, private road about 15 kilometers southeast of Stettler, Canada, when the rollover occurred.
