ATV rollover claims another child’s life in Mississippi

Now another child is dead and two others injured following an accident in the Hebron Community, located about halfway between Jackson and Hattiesburg in the south-central portion of state.

Mississippi coroner supports legislation governing ATV safety

miss 100x100A Mississippi coroner has become a strong advocate of tougher laws governing the operation of all-terrain vehicles because of the horrific injuries she has seen on the job. Carolyn Gillentine-Green, the Coroner of Lee County, Mississippi, told Jackson’s Clarion-Ledger that she supported any measures that would improve safety in her state. “I’m a proponent for anything to make it safer,” Gillentine-Green told the paper.

ATV accidents killing Australian farmers at an alarming rate

australia 100x100The Australian Centre for Agricultural Health and Safety (ACAHS) released some alarming numbers concerning all-terrain vehicle safety at a conference held near Perth, Western Australia last month. Numbers pulled from the country’s national farm injury data reveal that one Australian farmer or child dies each month as a result of injuries received in accidents involving quad bikes (ATVs).

ATV rollover claims the life of Alabama man

alabama washington county 100x100An rollover has claimed the life of a 26-year-old Alabama man in Washington County, Alabama. Justin Threadgill, a resident of Bay Minette, Ala., was killed Saturday night while he and his brother, Jeremy Threadgill, were driving up the side of an incline that locals refer to as “the mountain.” According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, the was halfway up the incline when it rolled over on top of the men.

Young Alabama mother dies in ATV accident

alabama map abstract 100x10021-year-old Jessica Lynne Braithwaite, a resident of Elkmont, Alabama, a community north of Huntsville near the Tennessee line, died last week after losing control of the all-terrain vehicle she was driving. Braithewaite’s ran off the road and into a barbed wire fence. According to authorities, both Braithwaite and 26-year-old Jonathan Barnes, a passenger, were thrown from the vehicle. Braithewaite died at the scene while Barnes was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital, where he remains in serious condition in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
