Government Accountability Office releases ATV report

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has released a new report called All-Terrain Vehicles: How They Are Used, Crashes, and Sales of Adult-Sized Vehicles for Children’s Use.” The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which is responsible for monitoring ATV safety and federal rulemaking affecting the manufacturing, sale and use of the vehicles, requires GAO to report on the various uses and advantages of ATVs and the nature, frequency and costs associated with ATV crashes.

Kentucky leads the nation in number of ATV deaths

A report on Nashville FOX affiliate WZTV’s website says a rash of motor vehicle accidents in last week has left 15 people dead, and 4 of the victims were on all-terrain vehicles, according to State Police. The latest deaths bring the total number of ATV-related fatalities statewide to 14.

ATV rollover claims the life of Alabama man

An ATV rollover has claimed the life of a 26-year-old Alabama man in Washington County, Alabama. Justin Threadgill, a resident of Bay Minette, Ala., was killed Saturday night while he and his brother, Jeremy Threadgill, were driving up the side of an incline that locals refer to as “the mountain.” According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, the ATV was halfway up the incline when it rolled over on top of the men.
