ATVs claim 2

A report in the Appalachian News-Express, which serves Eastern Kentucky, reported accidents claimed two lives over the Memorial Day weekend. The newspaper said the death of a 12-year-old girl, Sarah Elizabeth Colley, and a 17-year-old girl, Brianna Castle, died in unrelated accidents.

Report Outlines Danger

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, ATVs killed more than 500 people in 2006 and of those victims nearly 1 on in 5 was a child. In addition to deaths, accidents involving such popular vehicles as the Polaris and the Yamaha Rhino sent 146,600 people to hospital emergency rooms that same year.
